SHA-512/256 is a truncated version of the SHA-512 cryptographic hash function. It generates a 256-bit (32-byte) hash value derived from the SHA-512 algorithm. It is designed to provide a high level of security and data integrity, similar to SHA-512, but with a shorter hash size. Despite the shorter output, it maintains strong resistance to cryptanalytic attacks, making it suitable for applications that require robust data integrity protection, secure authentication, and message verification without the need for the full 512-bit hash size.
